Lust Murder bOX – Band Review

Lust Murder bOX is a Goth/Electronica/Industrial band out of Austin, TX made up of Erik, Nox, Travis and Vaughn.

Lust Murder bOX – “Genesis”

I’ve got to say, I’m not a Goth Music enthusiast. I do love good music however, and these guys have it. You really get the sense that their music represents something more than just something to listen to. Their lyrical content is opinionated a raw. They’re not afraid to tell the truth.

I really like how they switch between male and female vocals throughout their music too. In terms of musical arrangement, these guys seem to have their sound down perfectly, and the experimentation in their music is refreshing. All in all, especially if you’re a fan of darker rock music, Lust Murder bOX’s new album The New Divine is a great pick up.

You can now listen to The New Divine in it’s entirety on Lust Murder bOX’s Facebook page (along the left side).  If you like it, show some love. These guys rock.

The Further Room Band Review

The Further Room – “Persephone”

The Further Room is an amazing Alternative/Fusion/Pop band out of Columbia, South Carolina. The band consists of:

Adam Palmer – Vocals, guitar

Barrett Self – Vocals, guitar, piano

Matt Lewis – Drums

Lizbet Kloot – Violin

Mike Shirk – Bass

Their sound is an awesome amalgamation of different styles that pulls you right in. With meaningful lyrics and amazing voices, Adam Palmer and Barrett Self will make you a fan for a long time to come.

As described on their Myspace: If One Republic and Snow Patrol had a 9 pound, 5 ounce autistic… I’m sorry…. aRtistic baby, we’re what would be delivered.

They kind of remind me of one of my favorite bands, Temple Scene, without as much of the electronic stuff. I really love how they bring the violin in there and the acoustic stuff is awesome! All in all these guys are dirty, and I highly recommend giving them a listen.

The Further Room’s debut album, Needful Things is on iTunes now.

Strive Roots Band Review

Strive Roots – Communicate – Bioresonance Therapy
Strive Roots – Hip Funk n Roots – Bioresonance Therapy
Eli Lieberman, currently out of Bend, Oregon is the mastermind behind what is Strive Roots. Strive Roots is not something that can be easily defined or confined.

In terms of the music, it’s a kind of beautiful reggae / metal / drum n bass / other infusion with an awesome vibe. Strive Roots is usually a trio consisting of lead guitar(Eli), bass guitar and drums. Eli’s talent on guitar takes center stage, but he also works with some very talented band members, who vary depending on where he is.

I can’t wait to release the film we got of Eli at the THC Music Fest. Eli shreds! He does something with his guitar that I’ve never seen any other human being do ever, and I have no idea how the f**k he does it either(supposedly no one does). I won’t tell you what it is, just look forward to that video hopefully in the next couple weeks.

In terms of the lyrics, the tone and the voice of the music, Strive Roots is more like the reflection of a collection of truths floating out in space somewhere, often not found. Continue reading

Band Review: The Big Motif

The Big Motif is a funky trio out of Denver, Co comprising of

Tony Pacello – Guitar, Vocals

Hunter Roberts – Bass

Jeff Jani – Drums, Percussion

Though I was not able to catch The Big Motif play live at this year’s THC Music Fest, I was able to get a hold of their new 5-track, self-titled E.P. and I was VERY impressed.

They have an awesome feel to their music. It ranges from funky breaks to soulful blues riffs, to psychedelic rock solos. That combination makes for an awesome ride.

Tony Pacello’s vocals and lyrics are the perfect accent and backdrop to groove to over this self-proclaimed Experimental/Psychedelic/Funk band’s music.

One of the reasons I like these guys so much is because this band does soul the right way…they get down! It’s easy to get lost in The Big Motif’s vibe.

All in all this band has an incredible presence to their music that makes me very sad I missed them live. If you ever happen to get the opportunity, don’t make the same mistake I did.

Check out The Big Motif at their website or myspace.

Springdale Quartet Band Review @SpringdaleQ4

I had the pleasure of seeing Springdale Quartet at this year’s THC Music Fest in Alma, Colorado and they absolutely killed it! The Quartet consists of:

Chase Terzian- Keys/Organ/Vocals

Ben Waligoske- Guitar/Vocals

Greg russell- Drums/Vocals

Jordan Roos- Bass/Vocals

Their sound is ridiculously funky, soulful and a pleasure to listen to, especially live! Their Myspace describes them as Funk, Blues and Jazz. I’d say that’s pretty accurate, but you’ve really got to see for yourself.

As far as Jam bands go, these guys stick out. They have a great feel, and if you listen closely you can catch these crazy time signature changes that they seem to love playing around with, especially on their current eight-track, self titled, mostly live recorded album…it’s awesome.

All of the members are extremely talented musicians and their attention to detail is literally felt in their music. Like they say, if you don’t know what to call it, it’s Jazz, and these guys would definitely fit into that category..then throw in an incredibly soulful blues lick.. These guys are like a lovely kick to the face that’ll make you ask for more. All in all a great grab for anybody looking for something new and something funky.
