Jullian Gomes – “Atjazz Ft Robert Owens – Love Someone” [MUSIC]

Jullian Gomes

Jullian Gomes first found house music at eight years old, since his first gig in 2003, he’s released music on South African labels Multi-Racial and House Afrika, followed by records on Earthrumental and Realtone. Now rolling with UK vet Atjazz and his Record Company, Gomes is on an eternal quest to widen his musical horizons with shuffled claps and electronic soul. Jullian has been chosen to close the Red Bull Music Academy SónarDome stage this year, during arguably the world’s biggest and most distinguished electronic music festivals, Sónar.

TopCast RUNDOWN (5/22-5/29) [CHARTS]

Music Without Labels TopCast

Back at ya with another bangin’ podcast of all the music from last weeks Top Posts. Here’s the RUNDOWN:

Afrobeta – “Play House” [VIDEO]

This video is wild! “Play House” is a futuristic escapade which looks more like a scene from Tron than it does a music video. It’s a funky blend of quick-hitting lyrics and funky synths, guaranteed to keep your head bopping from beginning to end.

Afrobeta is an electro-funk doublet from Miami composed of Tony Smurphio & Cuci Amador. Noticeable for more than his sublime hairdo, Smurphio lays down the thumping beats, synths, and funky finger work on the keys (Smurphio actually served as Pitbull’s traveling keyboardist for a number of years before Afrobeta). Amador, the sexy Cuban, fronts the group and provides the seductive vocals.

Afrobeta was formed “as a means to attain an ultimate form of artistic self-expression,” and you can feel the individual markings of each piece in their music. Their debut album Under the Streets will be released on August 9th of this year.

Molella & Supafly Inc. – “X-Rated” [VIDEO]

It’s almost summer time and that means it’s time for summer jams. You know? Songs about gorgeous beaches, grilling out, or just simply trying to find that summer love. Molella & Supafly Inc. come together to create “X-Rated,” a summer song with a house, electronic, and reggae feel to it.

Molella is an Italian DJ and producer from Milan, who has been prolific in the business since he was 14-years-old. Supafly Inc., comprised of the power-duo of Mister P and One, is a London-based dance act that has amassed quite the following in Europe. Known for throwing crazy parties, the group has had enormous success in the last couple of years.

“X-Rated” is full of energy derived from its house beat, but also folds in funky reggae melodies.

Reptar – “Oblangle Fizz, Y’all” [ALBUM]

reptar oblangle

Get ready to be blown away by the sensational disco house, indie/pop sounds of Reptar in their upcoming EP release. I was just recently introduced to the band a few days back and remember thinking, “wow that sounds a lot like Phoenix” but after visiting their myspace page I learned they came from Athens, GA. This is the first album they will be releasing jointly under Quality Faucet Records and Make Records, Not Bombs. So thankfully the guys threw a couple preview tracks from the album out on soundcloud about a month ago. I think we will be seeing much more of this party group starting this year, especially after their performance at the SXSW ’11 Festival. Upon the release be on the lookout for any shows coming up in your area promoting the new album. They are a cool indie/pop/dance group with a jam packed punch of rage worthy of any live event. Enjoy “Blastoff” and “Stuck in my ID” and be sure to catch the album release this friday!

Burial – “EGO” feat. Thom Yorke and Four Tet [MUSIC]

burial

Soooo glad I ran into this track here. Thom Yorke of Radiohead teams up with UK 2-step/grudge producer Burial, and Kieran Hebden aka Four Tet, on a new project released this month. Definitely going for that club sound on this track with the laid back house beat being melodically guided by the easily recognized vocals of Thom Yorke. Once you’ve had about 10 listens of this hit visit here for the other release entitled, “Mirror”.
