Treehouse – “Pocket Life” [MUSIC]

treehouseNot too sure how I let these guys slip by there but it may have something to do with this hip-hop trios limited track selection, keeping them a hidden gem in the independent hip-hop community. Treehouse‘s first track released early February of 2011 and really set the tone of originality holding an old-soul jazz feel native to their Chicago, IL roots. Their have been some hints towards an album release with shouts of recording sessions in the works, so lets hope to see something late this year! So kick-back and get a glimpse of the “Pocket Life”

To help back that previous statement concerning a possible album drop in the near future, Treehouse just recently released a new single entitled “Ana”. Apparently this one is ‘in ode to a fine Spanish chika named ‘Ana”. Simple enough… Let’s hear what they have to say!

Blackwater Refuge – Hawaii Nice

blackwater refuge

At first I wasn’t really sure to think, just hearing those twangy island tones wasn’t doing it for me, then the lyrics dropped. This Hawaiian/Oregon hip-hop duo are quickly turning heads in the Southern Cali spot of San Diego, bringing a completely new style of their own to the game with music that almost ‘forces’ you to block out anything but the insane lyrical flow of Pana Jones. They definitely give themselves a very original musical description to match this new style:

Lyrics with substance braided through headnotic rhythms. Hawaii meets Oregon to form Hip Hop duo, Blackwater Refuge.

I see a very bright future for this crew right here, as they work hard to bring a new sound and change the game of hip-hop. One thing is for certain, they are fresh as hell online and nearly impossible to find unless you’ve seen their Facebook Page or their Youtube Channel. After hearing this next track here it was an obvious must for the post, so hope you enjoy “Love For Love” as much as we did.

Big K.R.I.T. – “American Rapstar” [MUSIC]

big krit
Totally vibin’ to this track here. Reminds me of some of the old T.I. tracks off the King album. Big K.R.I.T. brings a sick swag to the southern country hiphop sound with really real lyrics to match the dope beats of the south. This Mississippi born producer is definitely moving up in the world and with the acronym K.R.I.T. meaning King Remembered In Time, I’d say he’s on the right track. You gotta get down with the “American Rapstar” and check out some more of his tracks here.

It’s Lyrically Twisted back with a new mixtape, “The 2nd Nature” following his killer Introduction Mixtape. His last album was on fire with tracks like “In The Lab” and “Dear Seasons” but his introduction of this new mixtape has him on another level, bringing overwhelming consistency in his flow. “Breathin” is a hit as soon as you hear it, rivaling mainstream artists like Drake and J. Cole. We’ve had the amazing opportunity to get in touch with Lyrically Twisted to get his word on the making and distribution of “The 2nd Nature”

Danny Newport: Music Without Labels’ Featured Artist

Danny Newport brings a great alternative sound to the lyrical flow of a hiphop artist, with heavy toned compliments to build on originality. Residing from Philadelphia Pennsylvania, Newport found it better to build his music career street performing out west in Hollywood. He eventually caught the attention of many people in the area including producer Joe Warlick (Doobie Brothers, Kanye West, TI) who had then mentored him through writing and recording of his first album, Beach Album. The lyrics in his music promote being yourself and going against the norm, because ‘you’ll never know till you try.’
