Myspace: Still No Moves

According to TechCrunch Europe, Myspace visits have declined 50% over the past 6 months from 10 million to 5 million. Now they are laying off workers in their London office. Obviously everyone who isn’t using MySpace saw this coming. I mean, come on here.

I’ve just been recently been looking at our Music Without Labels artist’s music and most of them are still using Myspace. A few months ago we had a post on The Music Lab Blog relating to MySpace’s current flaws in their site. One of the main things that was holding them down and is today, was the fact that they allow HTML to be added to the comments on artists pages. This means as fan or artist, you can post comments with videos or songs on them that play automatically when the page loads. So it’s a complete turn off for a fan to go onto your Artist Profile and here someone else’s music playing over top of or before they can select one of your songs.

It is things like these that have been complained about for the past year, and they are still wasting their time on buying other companies to save their ass. Here’s an idea. Listen to the people who use your site and give you the numbers to stay alive. That is the start to having a successful business. Stop looking for a savior and focus on your site and the people you surprisingly still have.
